Planning notes for Canada

Canadian statutory holidays vary by province and territory, and not every employer follows the same set of days. The national feed is best used as a starting point for leave planning.

If a date matters for payroll, banking or a legal deadline, verify it against the province or territory that applies to you.

The calculations are designed for planning, not for determining statutory employment rights. If a holiday or leave day affects payroll, legal deadlines, market closures or a non-refundable booking, verify the final date with the relevant authority or employer.

How the leave planner works

A natural long weekend is a run of at least three non-working days created by the selected country’s weekend pattern and public holidays. A leave window starts and ends on an existing non-working day and fills the working days between them with annual leave.

To avoid filling the page with ordinary weekends, a leave window must contain at least one public holiday and require no more than four leave days. The list is then ranked by the number of continuous break days gained per leave day used.
