Why sunrise changes through the year
Sunrise and sunset depend on latitude, longitude, date and the city’s time zone. Day length changes much more at high latitudes than near the equator. The calculator uses the standard civil sunrise/sunset definition near −0.833° solar altitude and handles polar-day or polar-night cases when the Sun does not cross the horizon.
