What counts as a business day?
For this calculator, a business or working day is a date that is not part of the selected country’s normal weekend pattern and is not returned as a public holiday by the holiday dataset. The exact legal meaning of a business day can differ for contracts, banking, courts, settlement cycles and employers.
Country-level data is useful for general planning, but regional holidays can still change the answer. If the result affects a legal or financial deadline, verify the rules that apply to that specific deadline.
Country-specific weekends
Most countries in this directory use Saturday and Sunday as the typical weekend. The calculator separately handles Friday–Saturday patterns for countries in the dataset where that is the common working-week convention.
Regional holidays
Public holidays can vary by state, province or region. The calculator excludes dates returned as public holidays for the selected country, but legally important payroll or deadline calculations should still be verified against the applicable local rules.
